[ he's gonna go sit by the koi pond in the garden and just watch them for a while. he'll look up when he hears saber approach, though. ]

Feeling okay? Do you need any more painkillers, or anything?

[ are their injuries okay... he wasn't paying attention to that in trial. ]

[ that's fine saber also wasn't paying attention to their injuries. ]

Don't worry about me. How are you?

[ saber. ]

I do, though. [ please care about your injuries a little. sighs. ] Today went as well as it could have, probably, so I could be worse.

We really have you to thank, at least. If it wasn't for your smart thinking, someone innocent could have been voted for today.

And I'm glad that didn't happen. Really. But it still feels bad knowing we can't really help Ms. Neverah.

[ plus it doesn't feel like smart thinking just because he happens to have a useful whistle ]

Tomorrow will be hard again.

Yeah. It has been, every time. I think it's just going to get worse the longer we're here.

[ the more they get to know each other, the more painful it'll be. ]

Are you close to her? Neverah?

Not really. But I know some of the others are, and I still don't like the idea of anyone getting hurt.

She was trying to find a way to stop what's happening, too, so... Seeing that it happened to her is pretty bad.

[rippled]

It's just another example that none of us are really safe from any of this.

[ even if people are so sure that someone wouldn't do it... ]

That's part of why I'm so worried. Anyone could be next.

[ which is kind of terrifying? ]

I wish there was some way to make some sort of sign, but if we're afflicted by whatever it is, we'd know about any prior planning we made...

[outdistanced]

[ scoffs. ]

And we'd probably use it to try to convince everyone that they're innocent, too. It's too easy for it to backfire, and we won't always have something to set us straight.

[ they sigh. ]

Yeah... [ ... ] Were you friends with Waner? You gave her that ribbon.

Not, like, super close or anything, but yeah. I didn't know she was going to keep the ribbon.

I think she was surprised by people being nice to her...

[outdistanced]

She did look really surprised when I gave her those flowers...

When I offered to train her, she wouldn't let go that she owed me after... and I said she didn't...

That's a little different than flowers, though... You would've been doing her a favor.

I guess... it did not really do much in the end, though.

...If she only just started to learn that stuff, it's not surprising. You can't do a lot with only a few weeks' training. That goes for anything.

Mm. Logically, I know that. I even told her that myself when we first started.
